During the Middle Ages in Mont-roig there was a Jewish community, although today its Jewish quarter is not preserved, it would probably be located in the area of the street that since 1993 has been called Carrer del Call, in clear reference to the Jewish quarter of Mont-roig.
In 1391 the Jewish community of Mont-roig was plundered, that is, they lost their property. The Jewish quarter as such is documented in 1489, the year in which the court of the Inquisition judged a Jewish Mont-Rogenc as a heretic and applied one of the greatest penalties, reconciliation. This allowed him to save his life in exchange for rejecting his beliefs, not to reoffend and to suffer a series of punishments as a punishment for what was considered a heresy.
