During the excursion we will follow one of the road paths of the municipality, looking for some small jewels of rural architecture, the dry stone huts. In Mont-roig we find more than 100 of these huts that have the particularity of being built only using stone, without any element of union, a thousand-year-old art.

Most of the huts were built by the farmers of each farm themselves and the main reason was to take shelter, to protect themselves from the rain, the cold and also the heat during the peak hours of summer. And it also represented a way of clearing the fields of cultivation. But it was not only necessary to protect people, the mule also had to be sheltered, since he could not get sick for the good of the family economy.

But the huts are not the only dry stone element of this route: the Casalot path stands out for being largely very well delimited by imposing dry stone margins, which prevented the passage of cattle to the adjacent crops and allowed the passage of carts. If we look closely, we will see its footprints in the bedrock, two grooves dug into the living rock by dint of passing through it for years and years.
