From Mont‐roig del Camp, we take the old path of the Hermitage, approaching the mountain of Areny. Before that, we will pass by the Pedra dels Àngels, used to make children believe that they can hear the angels singing.

We arrive at the crossroads of the Camí dels Carlins, towards Vilanova d’Escornalbou. We have two route options, both go to the Devil’s Stairs that allow you to climb to the top of the Areny, enjoying splendid views and the whimsical shapes of the rock.

The hermitage of Mare de Déu de la Roca and Sant Ramon are located on a red rock promontory 292 meters above sea level, their location makes it an exceptional viewpoint of the Costa Daurada. It is precisely this red mountain that gives rise to the name of the town of Mont‐roig. The hermitage of Sant Ramon, a square cube located at the top of the summit and with white walls, stands out against the redness of the rock and the blue of the sky, still serving today to guide sailors and make them reach a safe port.

Following the slip of the “Moorish king”, we will descend along the beautiful cobbled path that makes a few twists and turns to find the old road, to Mont‐roig.
